Bobby Portis is asking the public for an assist, days after he says he lost most of his “prized possessions” in a home invasion — the latest in a string of robberies seemingly targeting professional athletes.

In a video posted on his Instagram and X accounts, the Milwaukee Bucks forward shared that his River Hills, Wisconsin home was robbed on Saturday, Nov. 2, while the athlete was “at work” playing a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, and he’s offering a $40,000 cash reward for any information or tips that lead to the return of his items.

“Over the last four-and-a-half seasons, I’ve considered Milwaukee as a home,” Portis, 29, began in the video. “I’ve grown here, I come here a boy and elevated into a man.”

The NBA journeyman continued, “The love you guys have given me here isn’t something I’ve ever felt before in my NBA career.”

Yet despite trying to give back and make Milwaukee “a better place,” he said he has become the victim of a crime.

“While I was at the game yesterday, we had a home invasion and they took most of my prized possessions,” Portis said.

In a separate clip, the athlete posted surveillance footage showing the crime in progress, in which two men can be seen standing outside his home. At least one of the intruders’ voices can be heard on the video.

In a separate but possibly related crime one state away, Minnesota Timberwolves star Mike Conley’s Medina, Minn. home was burglarized in September, according to The Minnesota Star Tribune.

The broad-daylight crime occurred while Conley was a special guest and sounded the Gjallarhorn at the Minnesota Vikings game on Sunday, Sept. 15.

Jewelry was stolen in the home invasion, in which at least two suspects accessed the home from the rear and broke lower-level windows, the Star Tribune reported.

Two other robberies were carried out that day in the same neighborhood, Medina Police chief Jason Nelson confirmed to the newspaper.

The burglary at Portis’ and Conley’s homes come amid the news that NFL stars Patrick Mahomes’ and Travis Kelce’s residences in Missouri and Kansas were targeted within a 48-hour period in early October, PEOPLE previously confirmed.

Mahomes’ eight-acre Belton, Missouri estate was broken into around midnight on Sunday, Oct. 6, according to a police report obtained by PEOPLE.

Police with the Cass County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the home at 12:08 a.m. on a burglary/breaking and entering call. There were no signs of forced entry to the home, according to the police report.

At 7:33 p.m. on Oct. 7 as the Chiefs were playing the New Orleans Saints, a break-in occurred at Kelce's home, according to a police report obtained by PEOPLE. Leawood Police were not called to the house until 1:36 a.m. the following morning, where they reported that $20,000 was taken and a rear door was broken.

Mahomes spoke out about the crime last week during media availability, saying the burglary, which is the subject of an ongoing investigation, was “frustrating” and “disappointing.”

In a statement to PEOPLE last week, an FBI spokesperson would not confirm or deny that the agency is investigating the crimes. A Medina Police representative told NBC News that an “investigator is working with" "agencies and other state and federal partners” to determine if the crimes across state lines are related.
