A beached manatee was rescued from Mayport Beach in Jacksonville, Florida, on Thursday, November 21.
Personnel from the Naval Station Mayport environmental team were assisted by workers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) in their rescue of the beached animal shortly after 9 am.
The manatee was transported to Jacksonville Zoo via truck to receive medical care.
According to a report, the FWC was involved with 73 manatee rescues in Florida from January 1 to November 15, 2019. The report said injury by watercraft was one of the most common reasons for manatees to need assistance. Credit: Naval Station Mayport via Storyful
