Navalny Gives Update From Inside Courtroom, Saying, 'I've Never Seen Anything as Illegal as This'

Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny gave an update on his detention from inside a makeshift courtroom in a police station in Moscow, according to reports, saying “I’ve never seen anything as illegal as this.”

The opposition leader called what was happening “the highest degree of lawlessness,” according to an automated translation from Google.

Navalny said he was told he was being taken out of his cell to meet his lawyers but now found himself in an improvised court. He said there were cameras recording him.

Police allowed state-run media into the room but not independent media, according to reports – see here and here. Credit: Kira Yarmysh via Storyful
