The 'May December' star recalls funny memories from her Oscar night win

For her latest role in May December, Natalie Portman is already getting Oscar buzz. The actress, who received an Academy Award in 2011 for Black Swan, says she still has fond and funny memories from the big night.

“I was four months pregnant, but everyone was like, ‘You must be ready to pop.’ And I was like, ‘I’ve got five months to go! I’m just huge,’ ” Portman, 42, says with a laugh.

Portman, who is mom to Aleph, 12, and Amalia, 6, adds getting glam for the big night while pregnant also proved to be a bit of a challenge.

"It made it all the more precarious to be wearing heels and going upstairs," she says. "I was just like, 'Don't fall, don't fall, don't fall.' That was all I was thinking about."

Portman adds that her Oscar win was a very meaningful moment for her.

"It's amazing when you get to do something you love, and then people love it."

In May December, Portman stars alongside fellow Oscar-winner Julianne Moore and says working with Moore was a dream come true.

"I’ve admired her for so long. She’s been one of my favorite actresses. We work in a very similar way. We love our kids in a similar way. It was just very fun right away," she says.

In her new dark comedy inspired by the Mary Kay Letourneau affair, Portman plays an actress researching a part in a film portraying a woman (Moore) who begins a scandalous romance with a 13-year-old boy (Charles Melton) she later marries.

May December is now streaming on Netflix.
