Naomi Osaka Reveals She and Cordae Have Broken Up After 5 Years

Apologies to everyone who's been shipping these two, but Naomi Osaka and her boyfriend Cordae have officially gone their separate ways. The tennis star announced the breakup herself in a statement posted to her Instagram Stories, noting that there's "no bad blood" between her and the rapper.
"He's a great person and an awesome dad," she wrote. "Honestly really glad our paths crossed because my daughter is my biggest blessing and I was able to grow a lot from our experiences together."
Naomi and Cordae first went public with their relationship back in 2019 when they were spotted attending a Clippers game together. “I just remember seeing that there were so many people who wanted to take a picture with him,” Naomi later told GQ when asked about the date. “And I just thought it was really cool how friendly and welcoming he was with everyone.”
A few years later in July 2023, the couple welcomed their first child—a daughter named Shai—into the world, though the two continued to keep their relationship very much under wraps.
Just a day before releasing the statement about her breakup with Cordae, Naomi suggested there may be trouble in paradise with a cryptic IG message. On January 5, she posted a photo dump from her recent trip to Auckland, New Zealand, which concluded with this very 👀 note to fans:
"I've come to the conclusion that what's meant for me is meant for me," she wrote, "and maybe certain situations occur to train my mind for what's to come. Maybe there's bigger and better things on my path and I just have to continue the journey to encounter them."
She ended her message with this: "That being said this is about to be a great year 😌 😉."
Cordae has yet to comment on the breakup himself, but it seems like the two will continue to raise their daughter together. Naomi previously praised the musician's co-parenting skills, saying that they'd "built a really good foundation."
"I don't know if it's because he's just an easygoing guy, but I think we just respect each other's opinions," she told InStyle during a December 2023 interview. "And if we disagree on something, we talk it out. At the end of the day, we both want what's best for Shai."
