Nantes police fire tear gas and water cannons

There were actually two protests that converged in the city: one denouncing the security law and the other - composed of artists and cultural workers - demonstrating against lockdown measures introduced because of coronavirus.

The marches attracted about a thousand people.

France has been hit by a wave of street protests after the government introduced a security bill in parliament that set out to increase its surveillance tools and restrict rights on circulating images of police officers in the media and online.
