Najwa Mahiaddin has no plans for politics

4 Aug – Despite being a politician's daughter, singer Najwa Mahiaddin (stylised NJWA) has no interest in the political arena.

The singer, who is the daughter of former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, told the media at the recent gala screening for the movie "Rahsia" that she is more attuned to music rather than following her father's footsteps.

"My family is very supportive of my music career. They never forced me to be in politics because they know what I love more. I even studied music in university," she said.

Najwa, who also recently returned to the music scene with "Alunan Lara", a new soundtrack for the remake of horror movie, "Rahsia", stated that she is still balancing work and family life ever since she gave birth to daughter Kaleela two years go.

"Now she has started to understand that I am a singer. I would even inform her that I would go to work before doing so. She was so surprised seeing me looking stylish and wearing red lipstick," she enthused.

Najwa hopes that the release of the soundtrack will enable her to kickstart her career again after a long hiatus.
