A New York woman is accused of torturing and then murdering her partner, according to authorities in Westchester County.

According to a statement from Westchester District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah, Kenya Tilford, 41, was arraigned on July 2 and faces 18 charges including murder, strangulation, concealment of a human corpse, tampering with physical evidence, intimidating a victim or a witness, assault and unlawful imprisonment, among others.

She also faces charges on accusations she tortured four other women, say prosecutors.

Tilford allegedly tortured her romantic partner, 27-year-old Concetta Morton, for three months, murdered her via asphyxiation and hid Morton's body in a storage bin at her New Rochelle apartment, prosecutors allege.

Per court documents obtained by CBS News, Tilford claimed she was in Virginia when the crime is believed to have taken place. But video surveillance obtained by police allegedly said otherwise, according to prosecutors.

"During this period, the defendant was captured on surveillance video purchasing a hooded coverall, bleach, tarps, paper towels, rubber gloves, a chainsaw and the storage bin in which the victim’s body was found," the statement from prosecutors said.

Tilford was arrested in September 2023 in Elmsford, N.Y., following police tips about Morton's body.

"In a first for this Office, we are charging the defendant for not only murder, but also for allegedly acting in an especially cruel manner and inflicting torture upon Ms. Morton before her death," Rocah said in the statement.

Tilford is currently in Westchester County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on July 16, per New Rochelle Patch.

It's not immediately clear if she has entered a plea or retained an attorney.
