Myanmar protesters send messages via balloons

Forced to cope with heavy security within their town of Nyaungdon township during the Buddhist new year's holiday, the protesters reverted to demonstrating via balloons at the river side on Friday (April 16), with messages such as "we want democracy" written across them.

Friday is the fourth day of the five-day traditional Buddhist new year holiday, known as Thingyan.

Most people this year are shunning the usual festivities to focus on their campaign against the generals who overthrew Suu Kyi's government and locked up her and many others.
