Museum of the Moving Image Announces 2022 Sloan Student Prize Finalists and Mentors (EXCLUSIVE)
The foundation partners with six film institutions: the American Film Institute, Carnegie Mellon University, Columbia University, New York University, University of Southern California, and UCLA. Finalists from these schools will compete for the Sloan Grand Jury Prize. Simultaneously, finalists from six other schools will compete for a separate prize, the Sloan Discovery Prize, still working with mentors for guidance.
The Grand Jury Prize was established in 2011. It was later expanded in 2019 to include the Discovery Prize so that the program could be run in public universities, urging them to nominate students. Of the five Grand Jury FInalists and four Discovery Prize finalists, two will be honored at the Sloan awards ceremony held at the MoMI during the museum’s First Look festival in March. It will include a reading by professional actors of the celebrated drafted work. Learn more about the prizes in this video.
