SABAH POLLS | Musa Aman made a surprise appearance today at two official events of Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin who is on a campaign trail in Sabah to canvass support for Perikatan Nasional candidates from Bersatu.

In his speech to some 300 supporters and voters at a bazaar in Kuala Penyu, Muhyiddin said the former Sabah chief minister was here to support PN.

"He is not a candidate now, but that is all right. But his spirit is still high, he wants to come here to support the candidate and PN," he said

"The voters in Sabah (must) choose a good government. I am not denying what (former chief minister) Shafie Apdal has done as just like Musa, (he) had brought development to Sabah during his tenure as the chief minister," he said.

"We say thank you to him," Muhyiddin said at the meet-the-people event held at the Kuala Penyu seat, one half of the Beaufort parliamentary constituency.

Limus Jury, the PN candidate for Kuala Penyu, who defected from Upko to join Bersatu, also attended the event together with his colleague, the Klias candidate Isnin Aliasnih.

Musa had first turned up at Klias, the first venue Muhyiddin had gone to, and this had sparked speculation that he was indeed campaigning for Bersatu and PN Instead of his party, Umno.

However, Musa declined to comment when asked at both events if he was supporting PN.

A bodyguard tasked with keeping reporters aways simply said that his boss would issue a statement.

At the first event at Dataran Bagandang, Beaufort Town, Musa sat on the first row of seats. He was given a VIP seat on stage at the second event in Kuala Penyu.

He was seen joinning the crowd in clapping his hands and often nodded his head when Muhyiddin spoke.

Many of those present, including local leaders and villagers, took the opportunity to take selfies with Musa and exchange greetings with him, reported Bernama.

When greeted by a Bernama journalist at Beaufort, Musa flashed a smile and said: “I am fine, alhamdulillah. How are you?”

Musa, who hails from Kampung Bingkul, just five minutes away from Beaufort town, caused a stir on July 29 when he claimed to have garnered enough support from Sabah state assemblypersons to oust the government of Warisan chief Mohd Shafie Apdal.

The following day, Shafie announced the dissolution of the Sabah state assembly, which led to the Election Commission fixing snap polls for Sept 26.

In a shock move, the former Sungai Sibuga state assemblyperson was not fielded by Umno/BN as a candidate for the polls.
