Mum says it’s a choice between heating and food this winter

Chevonne Newlands is mum to 10-year-old Mikey who has complex medical needs. He requires 24-hour care and a lot of life-saving equipment, which means Chevonne can’t work and the family's energy bills are alarming. Speaking on the cost-of-living crisis, Chevonne says: “It’s going to be a choice in the winter of telling the children to put on more layers rather than trying to put heating on. It is that choice at the moment - I never thought I’d ever have to say that, but it is a choice of heating or going without food.”.
