"Mulan", "Black Widow" and more Disney movies get new release dates

"Mulan" and "Black Widow" are among the rescheduled upcoming Disney movies.

6 Apr – With cinemas worldwide now temporarily shut down due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, film studios have no choice but to delay their movies' theatrical releases.

Disney has recently made several updates to its release schedule, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Mulan", the live-action adaptation starring Crystal Liu, Donnie Yen and more, is now slated to open in North American cinemas on 24 July 2020. It takes over the slot originally owned by Dwayne Johnson's "Jungle Cruise", which has now been delayed to next year, 30 July 2021.

Scarlett Johansson-starring "Black Widow", meanwhile, takes over "Eternals'" original release date. It will now open on 6 November 2020 while the latter, starring Angelina Jolie, Don Lee, Kumail Nanjiani and more, has been pushed to 12 February 2021.

That February date was originally meant for "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Rings", which is now moved to 7 May 2021, replacing Benedict Cumberbatch's "Doctor Strange" sequel.

"Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" will now be released on 5 November 2021, which means Chris Hemsworth's "Thor: Love and Thunder" had to be moved to 18 February 2022.

Luckily for Chadwick Boseman's "Black Panther 2", it remains on its 6 May 2022 date. As for Brie Larson's "Captain Marvel" sequel, it gets a two-week earlier new release date, 8 July 2022.

"Black Panther 2" is the only MCU movie that currently has no changes made to its release date.

Aside from the above, other movies that are getting new dates include Ryan Reynolds' "Free Guy", which now opens on 11 December 2020 instead of this 3 July; the Wes Anderson-directed "The French Dispatch", which has been moved from this 24 July to 16 October 2020; and the still untitled "Indian Jones" movie, which is pushed from 9 July 2021 to 29 July 2022.

"The New Mutants", "Antlers", "The Personal History of David Copperfield" and "Woman in the Window" remain undated.

Unfortunately, not all delayed movies will make it to the big screen. The movie adaptation of "Artemis Fowl" will be making its premiere on streaming platform Disney+ instead

Directed by Kenneth Branagh ("Thor", "Murder on the Orient Express") and starring Ferdia Shaw alongside Colin Farrell, the live-action adaptation of the fantasy novel series of the same name was originally slated for release in cinemas this 29 May.
