Mudslide Prompts Road Closure in Utah's Cottonwood Canyons

A large mudslide rolled across State Route 210 in Utah’s Little Cottonwood Canyon on Tuesday, May 2, prompting the closure of the roadway.

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) said the mudslide was approximately four feet deep and 100 feet wide and contained large woody debris.

Footage by UDOT shows a helicopter surveying the damage caused by the mudslide.

On Wednesday, the road was still closed after crews cleared mudslide debris, as the UDOT continued to assess hazards in the area. Credit: UDOT Cottonwood Canyons via Storyful
