MTG Double Masters 2022: The reprints you've been asking for

If you have not been following the recent card previews from the upcoming Magic: The Gathering set Double Masters 2022, you are in for a ride, because the reprinted cards in this upcoming set are honestly just wild.

Double Masters 2022 will release on tabletop on 8 July 2022, and is set to follow the footsteps of the original Double Masters released in 2020, featuring many valuable reprints while ensuring at least two rares as well as two foils in every pack opened.

Double Masters 2022 contains 332 cards: 91 commons, 80 uncommons, 120 rares, 40 mythic rares as well as the new mana-fixing land card which shows up in every Draft booster.

The upcoming set will reprint several cards which have never seen a reprint in any other set, and I want to highlight Imperial Seal and Warrior’s Oath in particular.

Both cards have not seen any reprint in any other set since they first appeared in Portal Three Kingdoms released right before the turn of the millennium (yes, that’s how long they have not been reprinted).

Okay, I get it: Imperial Seal was reprinted as a Judge Promo card.

Even so, the prices of Imperial Seal remained astronomically high, and even if you were willing to pay, Imperial Seal in general was just hard to come by.

There just aren’t that many copies in the wild given that Portal Three Kingdoms was mostly released in Asia and the Judge Promos came in limited quantities too.

Imperial Seal and Warrior’s Oath are not the only big reprints in this set, and there are just too many to list out in this article (wowzo, Wizards of the Coast is actually listening to our pleas) but here are some of my favourites:

Like with any other Magic: The Gathering sets printed in recent memory, players can expect cards to come in different treatments. Players can now get their big Eldrazi shuffle titan in a borderless frame, or a Liliana in a foil-etched version.

There is also a new special textured foil version of borderless cards, and five specific mythic rare borderless cards will receive this treatment.

They are exclusive to Collector Boosters, and 3 per cent of all Collector Boosters will contain a textured foil mythic rare.

Double Masters 2022 will be available as Draft Boosters, Draft Packs, and Collector Boosters.
