It’s been a big week of food launches for M&S this week.

Not only has the high street giant launched cake-sized Colin the Caterpillar chocolate faces, Valentine’s Day-inspired Yumnuts and an eggplant-shaped vegan Easter egg - it’s now introduced a slightly unusual breakfast treat.

Percy Pig-flavoured pancakes.

Made with Percy Pig dessert sauce, the buttermilk pancakess are dotted with apple and raspberry jelly pieces.

The new item was first spotted by Instagram account @newfoodsuk, who commented: “These have a beautiful fruity taste! We love the jelly pieces & sauce in these pancakes - perfect heated up!”

The post has received more than 7,000 ‘likes’ with users quick to praise the new release, saying they look “delicious”, “lush” and are “a genius idea”.

One Twitter user commented: “Omg Marks and Spencer’s do Percy pig pancakes!!! Game changer!!”

While there’s no word on what the pancakes cost, each pancake sits at 195 calories. So if you’re having a stack of four that’s nearly 800 calories (the recommended daily calorie intake for adults is 2,000 calories for women and 2,500 calories for men).

However, these are only slightly more calorific than the M&S 4 Buttermilk Pancakes pack, which has 251 calories per 100g compared to the Percy Pig variety which has 278 calories per 100g.

Percy Pig lovers are being spoiled this week as it was only a couple of days ago that M&S announced that its chocolate Percy Pig Easter eggs were now in store too.

Retailing for £10 a pop, the Easter egg is shaped to look like the retail group’s iconic character complete with a snout and pink ears.

For the savoury fans among us, earlier this week, M&S announced it was launching Marmite-flavoured hot cross buns.

The new savoury buns are flavoured with mature Cheddar, Red Leicester cheese and, of course, Marmite as well.
