TAIPING, March 4 (Bernama) -- The Taiping Municipal Council (MPT) has installed two portable closed-circuit television cameras at the Kamunting and Kampung Boyan Sunday market sites to detect irresponsible parties who illegally dump garbage at these locations.
MPT president, Khairul Amir Mohamad Zubir in a statement today said with the CCTVs which used solar power, they could monitor the situation through their mobile phone.
The CCTVs, installed on Feb 27, are being used for a two-week trial period.
“We will check with the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to detect the owners of vehicles used to dump garbage at the prohibited sites,” said Khairul Amir .
He said there were 34 illegal garbage dumps detected in Taiping district.
He added that CCTVs would be installed at other locations after this to curb indiscriminate dumping of garbage.
