A fight broke out between a number of Georgian MPs in parliament on Thursday, March 2, ahead of a scheduled session to discuss proposed new laws on “foreign influence” and “foreign agents.”

According to Georgian outlet Interpressnews, six opposition MPs who were against the proposed legislation were removed from a committee hall in the parliament building after a verbal and physical altercation.

Under the draft laws brought forward by People’s Power, part of Georgia’s ruling majority, NGOs or media outlets that earn more than 20 percent of their income from abroad must register as agents of foreign influence and declare their finances each year, as reported by Interpressnews.
