MPO to evoke nostalgia with ‘Raya Sepanjang Zaman’ concert featuring Ziana Zain and Bob Yusof
KUALA LUMPUR, March 3 — In conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya celebrations, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) have a special concert in their slate of performances.
Happening on May 6 at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP), the MPO will be taking the audience on a nostalgic journey of the yesteryear with their Raya Sepanjang Zaman concert.
The concert is a continuation of their Cahaya Aidilfitri show last year, and it will also be in celebration of MPO’s 25th anniversary since its inception in 1998.
Raya Sepanjang Zaman will feature prominent local singers such as Ziana Zain who will be performing her iconic Raya song, Hari Mulia Ini as well as popular 70s singer Datuk Hail Amir who will be performing Seloka Hari Raya.
The concert will be led by conductor Ahmad Muriz Che Rose and also feature local singer Bob Yusof and Singaporean singer Sanisah Huri.
The 60-member MPO will present evergreen Raya songs which will be given new orchestral arrangements by Jenny Chin, Gerard Salonga, Luqman Aziz, Ilham Subri and Ahmad Muriz himself.
The MPO, together with the artists, will also present medleys of Raya songs made popular by local artistes such as M. Nasir, the late Datuk Sharifah Aini and the legendary Tan Sri P. Ramlee.
