MPL Indonesia Season 7 moving offline 'in compliance with health protocols'
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) publisher Moonton has announced that Season 7 of MLBB Professional League (MPL) Indonesia will be held offline in compliance with health protocols starting on Friday (26 February).
"MPL Indonesia Season 7 will be held offline in compliance with health protocols and regulations from the government. We ask for your prayers that everything will run smoothly,” Azwin Nugraha, Moonton Indonesia's Esports Public Relations & Communications Manager, said on Thursday (25 February).
As with previous seasons, MPL Indonesia Season 7 will be divided into two phases, starting with a regular season from 26 February to 18 April followed by the playoffs from 30 April to 2 May.
The regular season will feature eight teams; namely, RRQ Hoshi, Alter Ego, Aurafire, Bigetron Alpha, Evos Legends, Geek Fam, Genflix Aerowolf, and ONIC ESPORTS, competing for six spots in the playoffs. The six playoff teams will then be fighting for the lion's share of the league's US$300,000 prize pool.
MPL Indonesia is arguably the most competitive of all MLBB regional leagues, as the country is home to some of the strongest MLBB teams in the world, most notably RRQ Hoshi and Alter Ego.
RRQ Hoshi, who were the back-to-back champions of MPL Indonesia Seasons 5 and 6, were the runners-up in the MLBB M1 World Championship in 2019 and also finished in third place in the M2 World Championship in January.
Meanwhile, Alter Ego, the runners-up for MPL Indonesia Season 6, were the champions of the ONE Esports MPL Invitational last December and placed fourth in the M2 World Championship.
Both RRQ Hoshi and Alter Ego are once again undoubtedly the favourites to be competing for the championship in MPL Indonesia Season 7.
All MPL Indonesia matches will be streamed live on the official MPL Indonesia Youtube channel and Facebook page, as well as Nimo TV and the Vidio application. A number of Indonesian television channels will also be broadcasting MPL Indonesia Season 7 highlights.
