MOVEMENT CONTROL ORDER: TERENGGANU STATE ASSEMBLY SITTING SHORTENED

NOOR AZNIDA ALIAS

KUALA TERENGGANU, March 19 (Bernama) -- The 14th Terengganu State Legislative Assembly sitting scheduled on March 23 will continue but shortened, said its Speaker Datuk Yahaya Ali.

He said the four-day assembly sitting will be shortened to half a day on March 23 (Monday) and attended by assemblymen without involving department heads and observers.

He added that the state legislative assembly sitting would be held without the opening address by the Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, in line with the movement control order (MCO) that came into force yesterday until March 31.

"However, Sultan Mizan will give a written royal address to the assemblymen at the sitting,” he said in a statement here today.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Monday declared that Malaysia would be placed under the MCO from yesterday until March 31.

The order, among others, entails comprehensive restriction on movements and public gatherings, including religious, sports, social and culturel activities.
