Mourners left toys and flowers at the scene of a helicopter crash that killed 14 people, including the leadership of Ukraine’s interior ministry and a child, in Brovary, Ukraine, on Wednesday, January 18.
The helicopter crashed beside a kindergarten. Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES) said it had completed search and rescue operations on Wednesday afternoon, reporting 11 children were among the 25 people injured.
Minister of Internal Affairs Denys Monastyrskyi, his first deputy Yevhen Yenin, state secretary Yuri Lubkovich and several other ministry officials were killed in the crash, National Police chief Ihor Klymenko said.
In his nightly address, President Volodymyr Zelensky paid tribute to those killed in the crash and said Klymenko had been appointed acting interior minister. Zelensky said he had ordered an investigation into the crash by Ukraine’s security service. Credit: Radio Svoboda via Storyful
