Police arrested an impaired driver in Mount Pearl on Tuesday, who was caught driving 92 km/h through a school zone, while impaired and with children in the vehicle.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says the 40-year-old man was driving through the Ruth Avenue school zone in Mount Pearl at around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to a news release.

The man was pulled over for a traffic stop in a nearby parking lot.

Police say he was travelling with children and was charged with impaired operation of a vehicle and for refusing a breathalyzer.

The man was also ticketed for speeding and operating a vehicle with a suspended license, and had his vehicle seized.

He will appear in provincial court at a later date, the news release said.
