Mount Etna Sprays Lava Into Sicilian Night Sky

Lava spewed from a crater of Mount Etna late on February 20 and into the early hours of February 21 as the volcano erupted for the fourth time in four days, according to local reports.

Local resident Giuseppe Tonzuso captured footage of the eruption from Valle del Bove, a natural basin in the vicinity of the volcano.

According to the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, debris from the eruption was expelled several kilometers above the volcano. Credit: Giuseppe Tonzuso via Storyful
