Motorist Lifted to Safety in New South Wales Amid Severe Flooding

A man was lifted to safety by rescue crews in Caroona, New South Wales, on November 26, after his vehicle became partially submerged in floodwater.

Footage posted on Friday by the New South Wales Rural Fire Service shows the man being winched from the roof of his vehicle and carried to safety. The service said the man’s vehicle was trapped in 1.5m to 1.8m of water.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued a minor to major flood warning for areas and rivers near Caroona, where the rescue occurred. The bureau said over 100mm of rain had fallen in parts of New South Wales over the previous two days. Credit: New South Wales Rural Fire Service via Storyful
