Two men in their 20s are dead after separate motorcycle crashes in Peel on Thursday.

The first collision happened shortly before 6 p.m. in the area of Hurontario Street and Petworth Road in Brampton, according to Peel police Const. Nikhil Chakravarthy.

The motorcyclist was struck by a public transit bus, Chakravarthy said.

Peel paramedics tried to save the man's life but he was pronounced dead at the scene. No one on the bus was injured.

"By the damage on the transit bus, it appears that the motorcycle was likely travelling in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the transit bus," Chakravarthy said.

The driver remained at the scene, he said.

The second fatal collision occurred around 9:45 a.m. at the corner of Derry Road W. and John Watt Boulevard in Mississauga.

An SUV and a motorcycle collided, Chakravarthy said. Preliminary evidence suggests the driver of the SUV was making a turn when they struck the motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist was taken to a trauma centre, where he died of his injuries. The driver of the SUV, a woman, was treated for minor injuries, according to Chakravarthy.

Investigators are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed either crash to contact police.

Chakravarthy said it's too early to say whether charges will be laid in either collision.
