Mother Reunites With Daughter After Putting Her Up for Adoption 29 Years Ago
A mother in St George, Utah, shared an emotional reunion with her daughter after putting her up for adoption 29 years prior.
Footage shared to TikTok by Allie Seabock, which was recorded on July 8, 2018, and has recently gone viral, shows Seabock’s mother (in black) and her daughter embracing.
“When my mom was 19 she had a baby and made the hard decision to put her up for adoption,” Seabock says in the beginning of her video, which has now amassed over seven million views. The video goes on to explain that although it was a closed adoption, after taking a DNA test, the adopted daughter was able to find and contact her biological mother.
“My kids were like, ‘Mom, don’t cry’,” the daughter, Jamee, is heard saying, wiping tears from her eyes as she introduces her own children to her mother.
In additional video shared to TikTok, Seabock’s mother explains that she was originally contacted by Jamee’s mom, which left her in “complete shock.”
“For 29 years, I didn’t really speak to anyone about her," she said.
“Seeing her and knowing that she is healthy, happy, and has a family is a relief,” the mother said in another video, adding that “it just took like a big weight off my shoulders knowing that she is happy and she knows how much she was loved.”
Seabock told Storyful that they have kept in touch, and her biological mother attended her wedding in 2019. “We see her anytime she is in town because we do live far but stay connected through text, calling and social media,” Seabock added. Credit: Allie Seabock via Storyful
