Russian air defense systems successfully intercepted an unmanned aerial vehicle on approach to Moscow, according to the city’s mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, on Nov. 19.
“Last night, in the Bogorodsky municipal district, air defense forces prevented an attempted attack on Moscow by an unmanned aerial vehicle,” Sobyanin said.
“According to preliminary data, the incident did not cause any damage or injuries. Emergency services are working at the scene.”
The drone was reportedly shot down around 1 a.m. Moscow time, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
