Nothing says ‘Christmas’ quite like gingerbread. Whether consumed in house form or shaped into gingerbread people, the warming spices of ginger and cinnamon are synonymous with Christmas.
This year, as a variation of its gingerbread offerings, Morrisons supermarket has launched vegan gingerbread doughnuts.
A festive take on its classic filled doughnuts, the limited edition Gingerbread Doughnut is available from today (November 19).
The doughnuts are made up of a fluffy dough and finished with a dusting of sugar. Inside, they are filled with a rich and comforting ginger cream custard - made from an intense blend of spices, cinnamon, nutmeg and star anise.
Each doughnut is made each day in Morrisons’ in-store bakeries.
Andy Clarke, Bakery Buyer at Morrisons said: “We’d seen gingerbread lattes going down a storm - and had an idea to mash up our famous gingerbread men with our filled doughnuts.
“Customers tell us our filled doughnuts are the best ‘accidentally vegan’ doughnuts they’ve found - so we’ve made sure that this recipe was no exception.”

Last month, the supermarket kick-started the festive season by launching its family Christmas dinner box for just £50.
Included in the box are 16 items - from starters to snacks, sides, a dessert and the main event: a British Turkey Parcel.
Each of the items are from Morrisons’ ‘The Best’ range and includes goose fat potatoes, pigs in blankets, mince pies, stuffing balls, blue stilton cheese, cranberry sauce, brie, turkey gravy, vintage cheddar, smoked gammon, fruit chutney, carrots with butter, sourdough crackers, baby parsnips and a yule log.
