This Morning has aired Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford's final regular Friday episode before new presenters Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond take over Friday hosting duties in 2021.
As their final Friday show wrapped up today (December 18), the presenting couple – who have been on the series since 2005 – said an emotional farewell to viewers and thanked them for their support, while also sharing their love for the incoming Dermot and Alison.
"You won't be watching us anymore on a Friday. Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary are going to be here on Fridays from here on in," Eamonn said. "Please, we would ask you to be as nice and lovely to them – friends of ours as they are, and we're very close to Alison – as you have been to us for the past 15 years.
"We appreciate all the love that you've sent us today, we send it all back to you. Have a very merry Christmas... it's been lovely having you."
Ruth added that she hopes she and Eamonn have "helped" viewers to navigate the difficult year that has been 2020, saying: "You haven't got rid of us, we're back for (February) half-term. It's been a tricky year for everybody, we hope that we've helped you through it a little bit. Thank you for all your support."
Eamonn also shared a goodbye message on Instagram, posting a photo of himself and Ruth holding a National Television Award won by This Morning.
"We bow out of 15 years of our Friday slot on This Morning today. Thanks for the memories hope we made some for you too. Until February May it be a Happy Christmas to you all," he wrote.
The presenter's post received a lot of love, with fellow broadcaster Huw Edwards commenting: "A 15-year masterclass in how to broadcast" and Love Island 2018 star Dr Alex George writing: "You will be missed... An amazing team xx".
Dermot also paid tribute to the presenters, writing: "Masterclass. Humbled to be in your wake."
This Morning viewers shared the love for Eamonn and Ruth after their sweet goodbye to the show on Twitter, praising them for their work on the show over the past 15 years:

While Eamonn and Ruth won't be on This Morning as regularly in 2021 they will still very much be a part of the show, as they'll be hosting during school holidays while regular weekday presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby take their holiday breaks.
Eamonn and Ruth will make their next appearance during February half term in 2021, while Dermot and Alison will host their first regular Friday together on January 8, 2021.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
