‘Morning Show’ Star Billy Crudup to Lead Dramedy Series ‘Hello Tomorrow!’ at Apple

Billy Crudup has signed on to star in the dramedy series “Hello Tomorrow!,” which has been ordered to series at Apple, Variety has learned.

The 10-episode, half-hour series is set in a retro-future world and centers around a group of traveling salesmen hawking lunar timeshares. Crudup stars as Jack, a salesman of great talent and ambition, whose unshakeable faith in a brighter tomorrow inspires his coworkers, revitalizes his desperate customers, but threatens to leave him dangerously lost in the very dream that sustains him.

The series is written and executive produced by Amit Bhalla and Lucas Jansen. Jonathan Entwistle, known for his work on the BBC/Netflix series “The End of the F***ing World” and “I Am Not Okay With This,” is onboard to direct and executive produce. Crudup will executive produce in addition to starring, with Blake Griffin, Ryan Kalil and Noah Weinstein executive producing via Mortal Media. MRC Television will produce.

Crudup currently stars in the flagship Apple drama “The Morning Show,” with the second season of that series to bow later this year. Crudup won the Emmy for best supporting actor in a drama for “The Morning Show” in 2020. He is known primarily for his film work, having starred in features such as “Almost Famous,” “Watchmen,” “Alien: Covenant,” “Without Limits,” and “Big Fish.”

“Hello Tomorrow!” also marks the latest project MRC Television has set up at Apple. The company is currently working on the limited series “Shining Girls” starring Elisabeth Moss and “The Shrink Next Door,” in association with Civic Center Media, starring Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Kathryn Hahn and Casey Wilson.

Mortal Media is Griffin and Kalil’s Los Angeles-based production company. The company is currently working on a sequel to “The Rocketeer” at Disney and a reboot of “White Men Can’t Jump” at 20th Century Studios. The company is repped by UTA and Ziffren Brittenham.
