More cinemas will be opening in Malaysia soon.

22 Mar – With close to 150 cinemas currently operating nationwide, Malaysian moviegoers are definitely spoilt for choice.

The number will keep growing as more and more exhibitors open new locations every year. In 2019, there are so far 3 cinemas slated to open soon.

The most recent one will be TGV Cinema's new outlet in Selangor's state capital, Shah Alam. Located on the fourth level of the brand new Central i-City shopping mall, the cinema opens its doors tomorrow with free movie screenings from 23 to 31 March 2019.

While TGV Cinemas Central i-City will be the exhibitor's only location in Shah Alam at the moment, it is the fourth cinema in the city. The other cinemas are MBO Cinemas Space U8 Mall, GSC Setia City Mall and TSR Cinemax IRDKL Mall.

As for MBO Cinemas, it is set to open another outlet in Johor. It currently has 5 cinemas operating in the southern state. It is currently in the midst of finalising its newest outlet at AEON Mall Bandar Dato' Onn, which is set to feature a Big Screen hall, MBO Kecil Hall, an MX4D hall and ticketing kiosks.

The third cinema to open this year, also in the southern part of West Malaysia, is the long-awaited mmCineplexes MesaMall Nilai. It was first announced in 2017 and is set to be the first cinema in the Negeri Sembilan city.

The state currently has 5 cinemas in operation but all are located in the core part of the state capital Seremban.
