26 Mar – "More than Blue" is all set to begin filming its small screen adaptation this summer in Taiwan, with a budget of TWD180 million.

"Because the 2018 film was so well-received, it is of the utmost importance for the television series to surpass both the original films' tone in terms of emotional depth; to move the hearts of the fans and new audiences alike," said producer Rita Chuang in a press statement.

The TV series will indeed have a lot to live up to as the movie version broke box office records with its TWD240 million (USD7.9 million) and 950 million Chinese Yuan (USD135 million) gross in Taiwan and China, respectively.

It was also the highest-grossing Taiwanese movie of 2018 in Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.

Last year, it was announced that a follow-up movie is in the works, though there've been no new updates on that to date.

The upcoming 10-episode series is expected to start filming on 7 July 2020, though with the current COVID-19 pandemic, it could potentially face a delay in production.

Director Gavin Lim, who helmed the 2018 movie version that was a remake of the 2009 Korean movie of the same name, will join the project as producer. Pei-Ju Hsieh, winner of the 2019 Taipei Film Festival's Audience Award for her movie "Heavy Craving", will take over the directing role.

It is not known at the moment if Jasper Liu and Ivy Chen will be reprising their respective starring roles, as the cast members have yet to be confirmed.

Younger cast members could possibly replace them since the series is more of a prequel, which will focus on star-crossed lovers Chang Che-Kai and Sung Yuan-Yuan during their student days.
