KIMANIS, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- Over a thousand Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) leavers have registered with the Oil and Gas Industry Work and Training Online Application (Pomigas) in Sabah to participate in the training, thus paving a way for them to get into the sector.
Sabah Education and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob said Pomigas, launched last year, was an initiative of the Chief Minister Department, managed by his ministry with the cooperation from the state's Internal Affairs and Research office as well as Sabah Computer Services Department.
Dr Yusof said the Pomigas system was developed to collect details of qualified candidates interested to acquire skills in the oil and gas industry and therefore giving themselves employment opportunities in the sector.
"Pomigas gives focus in training SPM and STPM leavers who are interested in the oil and gas industry, and I hope they will take this opportunity to register to participate in the sector's training," he said to reporters after launching the Career Awareness programme in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bongawan, near here today.
Dr Yusof said his ministry is always working together with oil and gas companies such as Petronas in providing platforms for the students to get the right career information in the industry.
