"Morbius", "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" among postponed Sony releases

"Morbius" will no longer be releasing in cinemas this year.

31 Mar - Jared Leto's "Morbius" is among the upcoming Sony Pictures' titles that have been postponed to next year.

The studio today revealed changes to seven of its major releases. As per Variety, three movies have been pushed to 2021, two remain undated after pulled from their original dates, one moves to a later date in 2021 and another one has been moved forward to 2020 from its 2021 date.

Joining "Morbius" in next year's slate are the Paul Rudd-starring "Ghostbusters: Afterlife", Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg's "Uncharted", and animated film "Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway".

"Morbius" will now be released in North American cinemas on 19 March 2021 instead of 31 July 2020, while "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" is moved to 5 March 2021 from 10 July 2020.

As for "Uncharted", it will still open in 2021 but on 8 October instead of its original 5 March date.

This sequel to 2018's "Peter Rabbit" has received yet another new release date.

The release of "Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway" was earlier this month pushed five months to August but has now received yet another new date. It will now only open in cinemas next year, on 15 January.

Both the Tom Hanks-starring "Greyhound", originally scheduled for 12 June 2020, and an untitled Sony-Marvel movie set for 2021 currently have no confirmed new dates.

Kevin Hart's "Fatherhood" is the only title moved forward. Originally set for release on 15 January 2021, it will now hit cinemas on 23 October 2020.
