KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 25 — Would you prefer dinner with American mogul rapper Jay-Z or US$500,000 (RM2.38mil)?

The viral internet debate turned meme has finally been settled by the man himself, reported Indy100.

The debate, which began as a ‘would you rather’ question in the 2000s, has been going on for years, given the music icon’s entrepreneurial experience as the world’s first billionaire in hip-hop and the chance to pick his brain.

In a recent interview with American TV personality Gayle King on CBS, Jay-Z settled the debate by urging people to take the money.

“You gotta take the money,” said Jay-Z. “You got all that in the music for US$10.99 (RM52) — that’s a bad deal. I wouldn’t tell you to cut a bad deal.

“Take the US$500,000, go buy some albums and listen to the albums. It’s all there.”

Jay-Z added that everything people need to know about his journey to the top was already laid out in his music.

“If you piece it together and really listen to the music for the words, for what it is, it’s all there. Everything I said was going to happen happened, everything I said I wanted to do I’ve done.

“There’s the blueprint — literally, the blueprint to me and my life and my journey is there already.”

Based on the latest report by Forbes, the New York rapper has a net worth of around US$2.5bil (RM11.9bil), with his business ventures outside music including a clothing line, the music streaming service Tidal and an alcohol business.
