MOHAMAD YUSOF WINS BRONZE AT PARA-CYCLING TRACK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 2 (Bernama) -- Malaysian cyclist Mohamad Yusof Hafizi Shaharuddin wins bronze medal at the UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships held at Mattamy National Cycling Centre in Milton, Canada, today.

The 23-year-old secured third place in the men’s C1 15km scratch race with 88 points, while the 45-year-old favourite, Ricardo ten Argiles of Spain still going strong to win gold with 120 points.

Russian Ivan Ermakovan took home the silver medal with 104 points.

However, luck was not in Mohamad Yusof’s favour in the individual event as he ended in ninth place with four minutes and 02.959 seconds; while China’s Li Zhangyu (3:48.206s) and Liang Weicong (3:48.231s) grabbed first and third place respectively, and Ricardo finished second (3:49.657s).

The 2017 ASEAN Para Games gold medalist finished fifth place in the omnium and sixth in the 1km time trial events.
