Rollout of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine began on Sunday, December 20, in keeping with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)’s authorized plan to administer 20 million doses by the end of 2020 and 80 million more in the first months of 2021.
First shipments of the vaccine arrived for distribution at airports across the country Sunday, December 20. The first shots were set to be given Monday, reports said.

Kentucky Gov Andy Beshear said at a press conference on December 17 that the first Moderna vaccine doses, over 76,000, would be distributed to hospitals across the state.
FDA Commissioner Stephen M Hahn authorized the Moderna vaccine on December 18, calling it “another crucial step in the fight against this global pandemic.”
