A 14-year-old girl has been found dead after she was swept away by a rip current while swimming in Texas.

Ana Suarez said in a translated Facebook post on Monday, May 20, that her niece Anllelith Solis was found on the shores of South Padre Island.

The Coast Guard said in a news release on May 19 that they had been searching for the teen — originally identified as a 13-year-old girl — after she went missing when she was pulled by the rip current near Beach Access 5 on South Padre Island.

Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi watchstanders received a notification at 7:15 a.m. local time from Cameron County dispatchers after the incident.

"One of the children, a 7-year-old girl, was rescued from the water and taken to the hospital in stable condition," the agency said.

"Watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and directed the launch of a Coast Guard Station South Padre Island 33-foot Special Purpose Craft-Law Enforcement crew and a Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew to search for the missing child," the Coast Guard said in their release.

On Monday, the Cameron County Park Ranger said in a Facebook post that they were notified of a body "washing up on the shoreline 2 miles north on county beach access 5" around 11:10 p.m. local time.

"The Cameron County Park Rangers recovered the body and received confirmation from the aunt and uncle of the deceased teenager," authorities said. "It was confirmed to be the missing 14-year-old swimmer in distress from earlier in the day."
