Minnie Driver is getting candid about her recent makeup-free selfies.

The Serpent Queen actress, 54, unveiled a couple of bare-faced selfies and opened up about why she usually never goes “without a scrap of makeup” in an Instagram post shared on Friday, Nov. 29.

“Ok, I’m pretty vain, so posting pictures without a scrap of makeup and un-touched up, are rare,” Driver writes in the caption.

She continues, “The only reason I’m doing it now is because I’ve been ill, I have felt everyone of my years recently and I’m pretty astonished that my friend Keren can make me look like this: Christmas glow without the 5 mulled wines.”

Marveling at her skin care treatment, she adds in the caption, “love you Keren,” referring to her friend Keren Bartov whose Instagram profile reveals she’s provided facials for stars like Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton.

While her followers are praising her for sharing the makeup-free shots, Driver has always been one to speak her mind about the reality of being a woman in Hollywood.

In July, she opened up about how she believes opportunities have changed over the years for women in the entertainment industry during a panel discussion hosted by PEOPLE, Entertainment Weekly and Starz for the second season of The Serpent Queen.

"We’re allowed to be over 40 now," she said at the time. "It is different. I don't know what that was done waking up to the idea that women are really just hitting their stride when they've, I think been through the gauntlet of only being seen sexually."

She noted that women’s “apparent power” is no longer limited to their sexuality, and they now have opportunities for roles that highlight "extraordinary expansiveness that comes with getting older," as well as motherhood and the choice to be childless.
