Mike Tyson is 'doing great' after suffering in-flight medical emergency

Tyson's reps say he suffered a flare-up from an ulcer while in the air.

Mike Tyson got hit by an in-flight medical emergency, but he isn't down for the count.

Tyson, who is preparing to fight Jake Paul in July, suffered a flare-up from an ulcer while flying from Miami to Los Angeles on Sunday.

"Thankfully Mr. Tyson is doing great," his representatives told Entertainment Weekly via email. "He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare up 30 minutes before landing. He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him."

Some reports suggested that Tyson's need for assistance delayed the de-boarding process, while others indicated that he was the reason for the plane's two-hour delay at takeoff. His representatives say this is incorrect.

"It’s false reporting that his medical attention caused the flight delay," they wrote. "This two hour delay was due to air conditioning issue on the aircraft."

This isn't Tyson's first incident on board a plane. In 2022, Tyson punched a passenger in the face multiple times, alleging that the man had been harassing him.

On July 20, Tyson will return to the ring for the first time in nearly 20 years to fight Jake Paul. His last sanctioned fight was in June 2005 (though he did fight in an exhibition match in 2020).

Tyson has long been a controversial figure, considered one of the best heavyweight boxers of all time. In 1992, he was convicted of rape and sentenced to prison for six years, but he was released on parole after only three years. Then, in 1997, he generated headlines for infamously biting off part of Evander Holyfield's ear during a fight.

In more recent years, Tyson has become a celebrity outside the ring, appearing in films likeThe Hangover, starring on reality series, and making the news for his unpredictable behavior.
