Mike He not afraid to be compared to "Goblin" star Gong Yoo
24 Feb – Taiwanese actor Mike He recently stated that he is not worried at all for being compared to South Korean actor Gong Yoo, after it was said that his new drama, "Skywatcher" is similar to the latter's previous hit series, "Goblin".
As reported on UDN, the actor, who plays the role of a thousand-year-old Chinese deity who fights evil spirit in the said series, stated that he considers himself an "uncle" and not a heartthrob like Gong, and would not worry about such comparisons.
However, Mike admitted that he still has to lose some weight for the role, since he has already added on some pounds during the Lunar New Year.
Mike also added that he sees his character somewhat similar to John Constantine from the Hollywood movie, "Constantine" - played by Keanu Reeves - and modelled his character Zhong Zhennang based on that instead.
As to claims that the series copies "Goblin" - seeing that his character is an evil slayer by night and bakery owner by day, Mike stated that "Skywatcher" is a romantic idol drama that is not as grand as the South Korean series and does not contain a time travel plot.
