Footage released by the Turkish government on March 4 showed large numbers of migrants gathered at the border with Greece, and at least one victim of clashes in the area.
This video, filmed southwest of the town of Edirne was shared by the Turkish Directorate of Communications. Tear gas can be seen on the Turkish side of the border. A wounded person is also seen being carried away by other migrants.
It is unclear how the injury was sustained, though Turkish authorities claimed Greek authorities shot at migrants in a no-man’s land located past the Turkish border gate located at Pazarkule. A spokesperson for the Greek government denied the claims, and said Turkey was “creating and spreading fake news.” Local officials in Edirne later reported that one migrant had been killed.
