Michigan Runner Springs Stunning Comeback in Relay Race

A University of Michigan athlete staged a remarkable comeback as she helped her team win a 4×400-meter relay race in Ann Arbor on January 16.

Maryland native Ziyah Holman helped her team recover from a four-second deficit to claim victory by nearly half a second.

Video released by the University of Michigan Athletics Department shows Holman passing competitors from Ohio State and Oklahoma State to claim the win.

Holman came in at 51.79 for her 400-meter split.

Earlier that day, Holman ran a fast 1:29.27 600 meters, earning her a number of accolades, including 2021 NCAA leader, No 3 on the all-time Michigan list, and the fastest-ever debut by a Michigan woman. Credit: University of Michigan Athletics via Storyful
