The actress Michelle Yeoh has been getting much-deserved praise for her portrayal of Evelyn Wang in Everything Everywhere All At Once. Still, she has been delivering stellar performances long before the 2022 multiversal action-comedy premiered.

Michelle Yeoh was a household name in Hong Kong action cinema through the 80s and 90s when she starred in several films and performed her own stunts. She co-starred with Jackie Chan in the film Police Story 3: Super Cop.

Her story with Chan goes back even further, however, as she was scouted by a Hong Kong production company after appearing in a TV commercial alongside him, kickstarting her screen career.

The James Bond flick Tomorrow Never Dies was Yeoh's Hollywood breakout. Her performance as the agent Wai Lin was acclaimed, and MGM Studio briefly considered creating a spinoff series starring Yeoh because of how well her character was received.

Brosnan himself spoke highly of Yeoh after starring alongside her and said he considered her the "female James Bond." Yeoh requested that she be allowed to do her own stunts for Tomorrow Never Dies but the film's director Roger Spottiswoode refused. She was, however, allowed to perform her own fight choreography.

Yeoh was selected as a jury member to help choose the award winners for the 49th Berlin International Film Festival in 1999. At this festival, the prestigious Golden Bear award was given to Terence Malick's The Thin Red Line.

Yeoh modeled in these incredible photos for National Geographic, which got some attention online when they were shown during a recent interview with Yeoh on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.Yeoh is indeed hanging in a harness from a helicopter for these shots.

The photographer, Joe McNally, penned a blog post after the photos gained traction again, and he wrote "She recalls being very cold. I recall her being absolutely magnificent hanging off those wires, just across from me, as I hung from the other skid."

Yeoh also lent her talents to another epic period drama, Memoirs of a Geisha in 2005 which was directed by Rob Marshall and produced by Steven Spielberg.

Yeoh has been living with the French racing executive Jean Todt since 2004, and they reportedly have a home in Geneva, Switzerland together.

Yeoh reunited with her director for Tomorrow Never Dies, Roger Spottiswoode, and her Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon co-star Chow Yun-fat in 2008 for this historical drama The Children of Huang Shi.

Yeoh was a cast member of The Mummy: The Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008, which also starred Brendan Fraser, Jet Li, Maria Bello and John Hannah.

Yeoh has worked a ton as an actress but also has some producer credits to her name, including the martial arts film The Touch and the documentary Pad Yatra: The Green Odyssey. The doc followed seven hundred hikers who hiked across the Himalayas to raise awareness about the impact of climate change in the region.

Yeoh played a former assassin reluctantly drawn back to her old ways as she's attacked by her former gang in Reign of Assasins. It premiered to acclaim in an out-of-competition screening at the Venice Film Festival and later had theatrical runs in the U.S. and U.K..

Yeoh collaborated with the legendary director of The Fifth Element, Luc Besson, for this autobiographical drama film The Lady. The performances of Yeoh and her co-star David Thewlis were highly praised, but the film as a whole received a mixed reception upon its 2011 premiere.

Okay, she didn't play that Santa, she played an owner of a Christmas shop in London who calls herself Santa. This was for the Christmas romantic comedy Last Christmas directed by legendary comedy filmmaker Paul Feig.

Yeoh had a small role in the MCU film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in 2021 and had also been in a Marvel film prior to this when she played Aleta Ogord in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Yeoh was an early pick in the minds of the filmmaking duo Daniels when they were penning the script for Everything Everywhere All At Once, which premiered in 2022 to critical acclaim. They even named the character Michelle before changing it to Evelyn per Yeoh's request.

Her performance in this film was a culmination of her martial arts prowess, a display of her huge emotional range, and showed that she can be absolutely hilarious too.

Yeoh picked up the Best Actress in a Musical Or Comedy award for EEAAO at the 80th Golden Globes this year. Nominations haven't been announced, but it is expected that she'll be nominated and maybe even win the Oscar for Best Actress.

Yeoh just starred in the fantasy miniseries The Witcher: Blood Origin and has a ton of projects in the works. She reportedly shot a part for Avatar 3 which is in post-production and is currently filming the role of Madame Morrible in the two-part Wicked movie musical.
