Prodigal Son, the US crime drama series starring Quiz and The Twilight Saga actor Michael Sheen and The Walking Dead's Tom Payne, is about to start airing its second season, and a big casting has just been announced.
Ocean's 12 and Chicago icon Catherine Zeta-Jones has been cast in a major series regular role, as reported by Deadline.
The show focuses on Payne's character, an FBI profiler who has the ability to see crimes through the eyes of the wrongdoers, which is a useful skill, but he fears that he may eventually become a criminal himself, especially since his father is Sheen's aforementioned serial killer.
Zeta-Jones's character, Dr Vivian Capshaw, oversees the psychiatric hospital where Sheen's Dr Whitley is currently incarcerated. At first, she tasks him with janitorial duties, but dances with danger when she thinks he could be a lot more useful to her for different reasons...
Season 2 was confirmed by Fox in May of last year, although production didn't get to begin until later in the year because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
That wasn't all bad, however, as Michael got to work on growing his hair into a suitably scruffy state for his role.
Prodigal Son returns for season 2 on Tuesday, January 12 on Fox in the US. Hopefully, it remedies some of the issues we had with season 1.
