Mexico got the confidence boost it needed Saturday in front of 62,729 fans at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. El Tri's Hirving Lozano drained the game-winning goal in the 85th minute of a friendly versus Peru. The goal was the difference as the game ended 1-0 in Mexico's favor.

The win alleviates some of what ails Tata Martino's squad as it heads into its final tune-up ahead of the World Cup on Tuesday against Colombia. Mexico had scored just four goals in its last six matches with three of those coming against lowly Suriname.

Lozano figures to play an important role in Qatar as Mexico's strikers have been plagued by injuries. Raul Jimenez and Rogelio Funes Mori both didn't play Saturday because of injury.

Mexico opens its World Cup campaign on Nov. 22 against Poland in Group C, which is rounded out by Argentina and Saudi Arabia.
