Mexico Sends Famous Search and Rescue Dogs to Turkey

Mexico sent its famous search and rescue dogs to Turkey as part of a contingent to help teams on the ground search for survivors following devastating earthquakes that rocked southeastern parts of the country on February 6.

Footage released by Mexico’s Foreign Secretary, Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon, shows the teams leaving Mexico on February 7.

The Mexican government said a specialized search and rescue team coordinated by the Ministries of Defense, Navy and Foreign Affairs, the National Civil Protection Coordination and the Red Cross left Felipe Ángeles International Airport on Tuesday bound for Adana Airport.

The team includes medical and food service cells, 35 search and rescue experts, including 10 canine teams, from the Mexican Army, 37 members of the Navy, including two canine teams, five Foreign Ministry officials and 15 members of the Red Cross, the government said.

According to news reports, the search and rescue dogs gained notoriety in Mexico, and globally, during Mexico’s 2017 earthquake.

A Labrador named Frida went viral when she was seen searching for survivors of the quake in Mexico City wearing protective goggles, or doggles, and booties. Mexico’s Marines said Frida had saved over 50 lives in various natural disasters. Credit: Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon via Storyful

[QUEEN, "SOMEBODY TO LOVE"] Each morning I get up I die, can barely stand on my feet. Take a look in the mirror and cry, Lord, what you doing to me?

I spent all my years in believing you, but I just can't get no relief. Lord, somebody, somebody, somebody, can anybody find me somebody to love.
