A camera mounted at the port of Southampton, England, vividly captured a meteor sailing across the night sky on September 5.
Video posted by Solent Shipping shows the meteor flying across the sky from a camera in the shipping port. The post is captioned, “Not a seagull this time shipmates, but a shooting star.”
A voiceover in the footage explains that the camera has a long exposure that can make fast-moving objects look slightly blurred. “At nighttime, seagulls can often be seen flying round the port of Southampton and give the impression of meteorites, as you have these long, white streaks in the sky,” the person speaking says. “This time, however, we have the real thing.” Credit: Solent Shipping via Storyful
