Met Office issues first ever extreme heat warning in the UK

The Meteorological Office issues its first ever extreme heat warning in the UK. The warning covers southwest England, South Wales, West Midlands and part of Hampshire which experienced temperatures upwards of 30C in recent days. It’s in place until the end of Thursday with temperatures expected to drop on Friday. The Met Office warns that some people could experience “adverse health effects” including sunburn and heat exhaustion. The Met says the heatwave could put the vulnerable at risk. Met Office first launched its new Extreme Heat National Sever Weather Warning at the start of June 2021 to warn about the impacts of severe weather. .
